About Us

Founded during lockdown in 2020 by a small group of parents who were passionate about Basketball and wanted to give their children an opportunity to play sport together, the club has grown from a handful of children playing socially distanced basketball in the local park, to over 200 members.  The Chargers are based in Cheltenham and are a friendly and inclusive youth basketball club providing basketball training and competitive opportunites for young people from age 6 right through to young adults at age 18.  As a group of volunteers are keen to grow the sport of basketball that we love! We pride ourselves on our inclusivity and we encourage children of all abilities and backgrounds to join our club.

At present we have 7nr distinct age group squads that play across Junior Local League's and Basketball England's National Basketball League. We have great relationships with other local clubs and regularly participate in development games, charity games and local youth cup competitions. 

​We have recently introduced a dedicated All Girls Basketball Squad and have worked with other local clubs to set up an All Girls Local Basketball League.

​We have also started 'Community Basketball' that runs every Sunday from 11am - 1pm at YMCA, Arle Road, Cheltenham. These are pay as you play sessions aimed at young people aged between 11 to 16 who are new to Basketball and want to give it a go, improving individual skills in a fun environment.

The club provides local children the opportunity to develop their physical skills, improve their health and wellbeing through sport and, most importantly, form new friendships through being part of a team and a growing basketball community.

We operate all year round to provide local children with a healthy outlet for their energy.
